Program FAQs

Question: How is a veteran determined to be eligible for low cost or no cost incontinence home delivery benefits?
Answer: First of all, you need to be enrolled in the VA healthcare system and have a VA healthcare provider prescribe the supplies.  Going to your local VA and working with your healthcare provider is a quick and easy way to begin this process.  It may be easier to call (for some veterans). They can either call their local VA healthcare provider or call the VA at 877-222-8387.

Question: Are there any other criteria to receive these benefits?
Answer: Your VA provider needs to determine that you have a medical need for these products.

Question: is a prescription necessary?
Answer: Yes, your VA provider must provide you with a prescription for these incontinence products.  They are familiar with this process and perform this service to veterans frequently prescribing name brand incontinence supplies.

Question: How are the incontinence products delivered to you?
Answer: Either at the pharmacy window or direct to your home.

Question: How do I get these products delivered to my home?
Answer: You may discuss delivery options with your healthcare provider once you receive your prescription to assure these brand name products are delivered in the most convenient way.

Question: What brand of products will I be provided?
Answer: Your provider will assist you in understanding which products are available and help make the right choice for you.  You will be provided with name brands of incontinence products you know and trust including Depend and Poise.

Question: How do I apply to have incontinence products provided to me by my healthcare provider?
Answer: There are several ways to do so.  The simplest method may well be to visit your local VA medical center. You can also apply online at va.gov or call 877-222-8387.
